I know this isn’t like what has been posted on here so far, but the last session was so EPIC that I felt inspired to share my character’s inner turmoil teeeheee:

Staring Galron

Once upon a breakfastless morning, we met per chance on the streets of Curabel as I was trying to steal some gold in a crowd. I must say it was not exactly graceful, and the guards couldn’t help, but notice my failed attempt at criminal activities. I was quick on my feet and dexterously made my way through the crowd, not oblivious to the long haired and bearded scrawny plated boy chasing behind me.

That was how we met. It must be futile to say that we were often at each other’s throat and both eager to have the other part from the company. Now, he lays there as fried as fish and chips with half of his face burned and unrecognizable.

As they say, ‘tis only when we come close to losing something that we realize what it is truly worth’. And in fact, he had always been a pile of fried flesh only now showing its true nature…

The man was not the most pleasant company, always speaking of righteousness and justice and perpetually seeing the world as black and white. In his mind, things are beautiful and simple and I might sometimes even envy this simplicity. Nevertheless, my world has always been painted in shades of grey.

Indeed, to live and survive by tainting the past, or to die as a forgotten embodiment of what is good. I would always go for the first option. There was never a doubt in my mind as I believed that the moment you died, there was nothing left.

However, the recent events have sown within me the seed of doubt. Am I truly the one I have believed myself to be? Think of no one, but me, myself and I (oh, and my GGFGM, but that’s another story), a coin for a coin and an eye for an eye?

We had heard a loud crashing sound in another room and had rushed towards the location only to find Galron laying on the floor, his body as cold as death. Lightning was soon going to hit again and we had no way to escape without leaving the injured man to meet his end.

I have no doubt that I was not expecting anything from saving the epitome of lawfulness. I have no doubt that I believed I would get fried to the bones trying to save his righteous derriere! And yet, along with Ir’Alle I threw myself in between the paladin and the lightning.

I have never been irrational. Perhaps slightly unwitty, but not irrational. Yet, even at that crucial moment of life and death when the lightning was about to strike, my faith never faltered: we would get brothered, have a lot of companions and adventure together happily ever after.

Seems like his paladinness getting fried has begun to overturn this true neutrality of mine…

Session 15 written for the 3rd time: The party got to a spot o trouble today as they angered a local judge by “stealing” his sword from his nephew and his friends. This happened during the leaving of the sewer ater we were ambushed by them in previous sessions so the party attempts to make amends with the judge by buying back the sword from the merchant. Which is successful and the merchant was pretty cool about trading back the sword for 19gp, They do this all the while hoping to not attract the attention of the grey cloaks a form of secert police that had been skulking for the party around the parties home. The party then takes a cariage to the courthouse where the judge Arden Grell works , The party then decides that it would be best for them to send Tarion and Galron to return the sword in the name of Thorfus. Tarion lies to the clerk and says that she is Thorfus in order to get the attention of the judge, Galron was annoyed but he gave his true name to the clerk. The judge surprised to see an elf instead of dwarf asks if he may help Tarion ,Galron pipes up explaining the situation to the judge aswell as apolgizing he also does his best at at sucking up even asking about the swords orginal owner and the tales of his great grandfather and baldric evenkeel. This doesnt seem to help and judge grnell warns that this does not compeltely absolve  thorfus of his deeds, but it is said that thorfus should try to get out of town as soon possible after the warning  the party doesnt do that at all and heads t there home to pick up there hirelings stourloc kotar and kilmar and head over to the Flotzem and Jetson they spend a night healing up and then the next day head for the dwavern bath house in the sewer. The party really just going there to clean house of loot decides to take the 6 in total 1 gold a topaz(1000gp) and then 5 red spenilli(right from italy) (50gp each) using a Thorfus’s spike galron removes the gems after this they head further into the bathhouse coming to a single sarcophagus and they take a scroll case that faldspar seems to enjoy and a golden lute that plays an amazing song that casts remove fear (i assume) The party delves deeper and comes upon a mystical cool thing everyone is examining and GALRON BEING THE IDIOT HE IS goes and touches it gets teleported disoriented due to sleep deprivation(riese) galron searches around activates the trap that shoots lighting and sprints upstairs and drops to the floor he takes the damage and collapses at -6hp the party freaks out and sprints to save him(im so sorry) there is then the trap recharging the party finds galron at -8hp in a crumpled mess they freak out further Ir alle being a true friend and attempting to help galron by defending him with his shield tarion doing the same THorfus BEING AMAZINGLY BRILLANT  throws a iron spike triggering a different trap and stoping the thing from recharging and hitting the party SAVING THE PARTIES LIFE after it is detriment that galron has permanently lost a point of Charsima after all that it is time to end the session

(Sorry for the late write-up, busy week)

The party returns to the Cock and Bull at sundown, just in time for the city-wide curfew. The Inn is still housing a large number of Islanders, taking shelter from the rioting, and the usual atmosphere has been replaced by a quieter one. Holden is still acting as a doorman.

As we enter, Elspeth calls us over to tell us that there had been several people looking for the group whilst we were out. Jocassa had been by, asking for us to visit her in Newtown, as well as a shady character looking for Sthorm, our long-missing thief.

After dinner, Tarion, Faldspar and Thorfus decide to head around to the townhouse. A Greycloak is waiting for them, who after a moments pause, reveals himself to be Perette. The Greycloak is checking up on us, particularly after our altercation with Elain Grell’s gang.

The boy’s uncle, Magistrate Arden Grell didn’t take too kindly to us squaring off against them, as well as our appropriation of Elain’s sword, which happened to be a family heirloom, salvaged from one of Baldric Evenkeel’s foes. He’d called for our apprehension for assault and theft, only to be quietened when Lord Thornton had asked the question of why the students had been out after curfew in the first place.

Unfortunately, Thornton still wants to question us, and sent Perette to bring us in. It seems however, that Perette has taken a liking to us, and elects to tell Thornton he was unable to meet us due to being ‘busy’ with something in Newtown. He also warns us to be careful with the law.

The subject changes to our involvement with Beren, widower of Kaitlyn and murderer of the mayor. The man is now dead, his head found in the canal, but the question arose that a man supposedly having spent his entire life as a poor labourer was surprisingly skilled with a sword when he assaulted the mayor.

The entire group of people associated with the Bullywug kidnapping are such being brought in for questioning, including us, as we all had some connection to Beren through it. Advising us to not be at home for a short while, Perette then leaves.

Wary of traps, the three finally enter the townhouse, and go to bed. Axel stays a while in the Inn, mingling with the townfolk there, but doesn’t learn anything new except that most intend to return home the next day.

Joining the others in the house, he gets caught up on the meeting with Perette, and he and Thorfus agree that we should set a watch. Aside from someone distant shouting on Axel’s watch, and a pair of figures, one human-sized, one shorter, running down the street on Thorfus’, the night passes without incident.

The next morning, after some discussion, the party decides they should stash thier money somewhere safer for the time being. After some thought, they decide to ask Rowland, and laden themselves up, hiding the lockboxes inside thier backpacks.

Rowland’s goodwill continues, and though unusual, he doesn’t mind locking up our lockboxes after we assure him it’s just money within. He’s happy to have our trust.

We then head to the paper bazaar, where Faldspar searches out Velten. The mage tosses an inkwell at him, which he sidesteps. This causes Velten to initially mistake him for a mage, and when Faldspar reveals he is an illusionist, remarks that perhaps he was at the back of the class.

Faldspar buys the writing supplies necessary to copy down his new spell, when Jardin appears. Naturally, the party is suspicious of someone we have confirmed is evil, but he is merely shopping, and even recommends Faldspar visits Wright’s General Store should he need some training. Edus Applebee reportedly would help him.

Whilst Faldspar heads off to a cafe to copy the spell, the rest of the group head off to the General Store. Tarion talks to Withem Wright, who communicates secretly using thief’s cant sign language, asking if Tarion is ‘one of us’. Tarion responds in kind, undercover of thier verbal conversation.

Axel gets bored and goes to stand outside, and everyone follows, allowing them to talk more freely. Withem tells Tarion to seek out Gutter’s Mad Dogs, and specifically a half-orc named Gartham for training. She advises Tarion that they’ll send him a message.

After this we head up to Rowlands again, this time to retrieve Ir’Alle’s morningstar, newly decorated and enscripted.

Rejoining with Faldpar, we head to the Flotsam and Jetsam, we once more hire Kilmar, Sturloc and Kottar, passing them the extra supplies we gathered, then head towards the University, watching all the time for people following.

The University itself is quiet, the gates closed, and we enter the sewers without trouble, following the now familiar path back to the Goblin’s home. The tattoo’ed goblin greet us as usual. He informs us that the area has been quiet as of late, and they’ve decided to stay.

We call in a favour from them, asking the goblins to carry back and old onto some tapestries from the tomb until we return for them. They refuse to enter the tomb itself, but follow us to the opening. Roping down, we retrace our steps, gathering the two closest tapestries and passing them up to the goblins.

On the way to the second, we come across a sphere sat in the middle of the room, motionless. Unusure of what to do, Axel tosses gears around it, trying for a reaction. Each time, the sphere, spins around and inspects the gear, returning to it’s original spot after. After several failed attempts to actually hit the sphere, Thorfus takes over and hits it directly.

The sphere instantly charges us, seams appearing in it’s body, but it is felled by Ir’Alle’s club before anything can happen, and begins to hiss and spit like a boiling kettle. Thinking quickly, Faldspar bashes it away with his staff, and we hunker down behind the tapestry as it explodes.

We have to put out fire that caught the tapestry, but retrieve it anyway. Heading deeper into the tomb, we resolve to concentrate our search on finding the caretaker, deciding to finish exploring the area we had previously discovered. As we progress, we find that the doors and janitor-bot’s hatch that we had previously spiked have been unspiked. Respiking just in case, we continue east and south, finding a room with three sarcophagi as expected.

Not wanting to deal with the paper-thing automaton’s again, the group lines up and destroys them all simultaneously. After this, we check the coffins, pushing the buttons to see the animated lids. One here is different, instead of moving, the replica cube instead glows, revealing the letters, adcfg repeated over it in ancient dwarven. We loot the coffins as usual, finding less than previous coffins.

Heading back and further south, we find a locked door Tarion cannot open, and so we try another. The room beyond holds another pedestal at it’s walls are lined with numerous alcoves, each one holding a data cube, for a total 120. After consideration about taking them, we decide that there information may be less important than those we found with the dead dwarves.

Further west, we find another three sarcophagi, notable in that they are all completely plain. Each one holds a jawless dwarf in plain-black robes, with these being the first skeletons to not have the top of thier skulls removed.

We try the locked door again, Tarion trying to brute force it open first, then Axel succeeding in opening it the same way. We enter a small room that almost appears to be a cosy apartment, with a kitchen area and a chair, table and bookcase.

Ir’Alle inspects the bookcase, finding numerous Ancient Dwarven tombs on the subjects of Astrology and Astronomy, mixed in with romance fiction.

Thorfus picks up a notebook from the table, which appears to be some kind of personal diary, each entry counting up in decimal places coupled with abbreviations of what may be coordinates.

It is only half full, and flipping to the end, he reads what seems to be the final entries of a dwarven caretaker. They speak of explosions in the south, and a crytal tower being destroyed. Abandonment with no word from Marshalls or Voices. Savages and a worsening rebellion, driving them north. ‘They’ll soon be wielding those they have stolen from us…’

It ends with ‘This tomb must not be desecrated’, and appears to be the final farewell of the last caretaker, some two thousand years ago. We take the all the books with us.

Along a small corridor, we find a dusty bedroom. There is a body on the bed, surrounded by dark stains, the top of it’s skull messsily removed. There is a large key on the table, which we take.

Leaving the books back at the entrance, we head north into the tomb, finding an undamaged gate leaning against a wall, next to a previously blocked passage. Remarking a trap with chalk, we head east looking for a secret door. We collect another tapestry and spy a small glowing orb. Axel and Tarion hit it with arrows, the elf’s destroying it. We enter a room with two sarcophagi topped with female dwarves wielding staves and notice a humming noise in the background. Thorfus heads down to the the trapped door with the key, but it opens without incident thanks to the key, revealing the room with the rotating bridge.

A second pedestal had joined the one in the centre now, this one omitting a brighter heat source, and we prepare to fight.

Session: 12

Session: 12

Our group emerges out of the sewers only to see an orange glow and smoke out in the distance of the city. As everyone gets out Perette informs the group that he is giving them a week before he tells Lord Thorton that the tomb they are exploring is on university grounds. After this is explained two guards come up to the group telling them to lay down their weapons. Perette told them he was Thortons right hand man and ended up convincing them.

It turned out while down in the sewers some crazy person had killed the mayor. This has led in people going around in mobs and acting violent. Perette deputized the guards, one to escort him to Lord Thorton and the other to escort to the Cock N’ Bull.

As the group followed the guard named Montrel through the town they saw a mob in the distance and decided to hide as to avoid confrontation. As the mob got closer they could see that they were all wearing masquerade masks, one had a girl  tied up. When the guard saw this he came out from hiding to confront the mob and enforce the curfew that was put in place. The guard knew the mob as it turns out they are university students but the leader was a real nasty person.

The leader laughed at Montrel and didn’t take him seriously as well with saying that they’re bringing her in for questioning. As this is going on Thorfus yells “you’re going the wrong way to Lord Thorton’s” the leader says “there are other higher powers than just him”.  Thorfus has had enough and gets out from the shadows telling them to drop the girl. Him and his party just got out of the sewers fighting machines and aren’t in exactly a good mood. This makes leader realize that it’s probably a good idea to let the woman go. Faldspar comes out from hiding and hypnotizes half of the mob including the leader.  He told them to put down their arms which they complied to. Faldspar questioned the leader asking who the other powers were in town other than Lord Thorton.  The leader told Faldspar who it was, after that Faldspar told them to go back home and leave their weapons. One person from the mob was shocked that the leader whom he called Elaine would leave his sword behind.

The group untied the girl who was distraught, Montrel asked the group if they could accompany the girl back to her home. Once they made it to the girls home which was a bakery it looked like it had been trashed by the mob from before. Inside was a woman with a broken arm sitting over a man that was unconcious. The party decide to take the family with them as it didn’t seem safe at all to leave them especially if the mob of university students came back.

The part eventually makes it to the Cock N Bull to see that there were wagons blocking their townhouse and there was a dead body up the street. The party knocks on the door to the Cock N Bull only to hear a gruff voice saying “can’t you leave decent folk alone!” After a bit of convincing they were let inside to see that there were many wounded people lain on the ground.  The party goes to the town house and leaves the family, Tarion, and Faldspar to rest with Sturloc, Kottar, and Kilmar guarding. The rest of the party goes to investigate the body and saw that the person had been shot in the back by an arrow. They go check on Desrick, who seems to be doing just fine. After that the party turns in for the night needing to get some rest.

The following morning they get themselves ready to go and sell everything they picked up from the tomb. The first destination was the jeweller to sell the gold and jewelery they had for quite a hefty sum. Afterwards they went back to Desrick’s house, there they tell Desrick as to what has happened down there and what they saw. They ended up selling the mechanical beetles to him and asked about the black cubes they had. He said that they may be a book or a library from the dwarves but he wasn’t sure.

Once they were done with Desrick the party went to repair their weapons and headed off to Talisin’s to sell the books they acquired. The shop is closed up and they go ask in the nearby tavern to which they were told to keep knocking. The door opened up to what looked like a stereotypical evil looking person. Galron ended up detecting evil on him to find out he was infact evil. They are brought in to meet with Talisin and show the books. He could only read one which was to disable automatons, it turned out Faldspar hadn’t read the other one which was actually written for illusionists and it was about taking control of automatons. Talisin took notice that Faldspar was an illusionist and insulted him by saying that books are hard. Faldspar rebuttaled by saying “Yes that’s why you couldn’t read this one right?”. After the pleasantries the party pulled out one of the black cubes. Talisin had a greedy look of curiosity on his eyes and wanted to buy the cube right away. The party refused because they may need it in the tomb. On the way out Ethan expresses worries to the group as to what his mentor is doing and says to not give him those cubes. Talisin and that evil man have been doing something in the tower without him. Galron tells Ethan that if it gets worse to come get them. The  group rushes off to Aldus’s with a wagon to acquire information before the curfew for the day. He gives the same information that Desrick did however, he is able to identify the black cube as a possible library.

I lost all of my notes from our last session so I hope this is pretty accurate.
