Bullet Point Summary of Campaign Information

Bullet Point Summary of Campaign Information

The linked document is my attempt to pull together everything the party has learned about key aspects of the campaign world that are not necessarily common knowledge (along with a high-level indication of how and when they learned it). A few things to keep in mind:

– this is the information the party has and believes; it may not be complete or true in every case

– the document is arranged thematically, not chronologically according to the campaign (although within the sections, the information is chronological)

– this was done from memory because I wanted it to focus only on those things that are most relevant to the campaign today; minor and tangential things were probably forgotten and that’s not necessarily a bad thing for the purposes here

– it’s assumed that current party members have this information; if not via direct experience, then through the copies of the consciousnesses of former PCs that Serithaz controls in his ESP helmet realm

– Laris, as a very recent addition to the group, would obviously not know all of this immediately (i.e, until the party sits him down and reveals it all); however, I figured it would make things easier if Ted Horner had access to this for reference

Let me know if you see any glaringly obvious mistakes! If I have time, I will edit it a bit more and maybe add some cross-reference linking.

SESSION 34 – January 28, 2018

SESSION 34 – January 28, 2018

Urman was peeved that he himself was fireballed, and hurt worse than anything to date had ever hurt him.

We healed and rested, hired more mercenary body guards for Urman, and then made our assault.

Mydius’s tower had a wall around it. Inside were fields with some huts and 4 scarecrows. Otiben climbed the wall and saw this. As he went over the wall, there was a scream. Magic mouth or some such had alerted Mydius to our presence.

Otiben and Zho Ni went over the wall, and all the rest went towards the gate, that the Otiben and Zho Ni were to open.

I decided to let them be a diversion. I climbed the wall, cast dispel magic on the tower to knock down any defensive spells Mydius had cast. I also ruined magic potions, etc. But I was going for broke. He was going down! While the rest of the party, except my new bodyguards were rushing through the gate, I then fireballed the tower. I thought it was an open window, but it had glass, so the bulk of the blast was blocked.

[The other players and the DM were like, “Dude! You are so wicked! that’s cold.” My reply, “That’s what he gets for fireballing me.” (He has at least 3 levels on me, I have to throw everything now, before he uses his amulet to teleport out.)]

The Otiben climbs into the window Urman out with the fireball, and the rest of the party knock down the door and rush into the tower.

I take a moment to cast protection from normal missiles and shield, then rush up.

I get there as the fight is starting. Mydius struck his staff on the ground and four suits of armor animated to defend him. This was in addition to his human/wolf hybrid things. We’re not sure what they are yet.

There was some fighting, but not much. I prepared to cast web in through the tower window, in hopes of preventing him from moving, and activating his amulet to escape. Zho Ni prepared to cast silence 15′ radius at the ceiling of the 2nd floor of the tower.

Before the spells go off, Batukahn rushes the wizard, grapples him, and in a rushing tackle defenestrates the wizard and rides the wizard to the ground. [The half-orc has 50+ hitpoints so is willing to take the damage.] Mydius survives the fall, still grappled, desperately trying to get to the amulet.

The web gets all but one suit of armor, who defenestrates itself to aid Mydius, and one of the human/wolf creatures near the stairs. The silence then goes off, so Otiben is in the web filled and silenced room. He has a 19 strength, so can make his was to auto kill two suits of armor and one human/wolf thing. He climbs out the window to get to the second floor to run to the stairs to go get the last held suit of armor.

The Batukahn manages to prevent the wizard from activating the amulet, so Mydius shouts, “Defend!” and the four scarecrows come to his aid.

One of my bodyguards binds and gags Mydius while the rest of us fight the scarecrows and suit of armor outside. Urman gets the amulet away from him and pockets it.

Inside, the cleric, his dwarf fighter henchman, and some other hirelings, fight the last human/wolf hybrid. The cleric does hold person, and the dwarf finishes it.

Finally, we finish off the scarecrows and last suit of armor.

In the final moments of the fight, Urman, and a bodyguard drag the wizard away from the fight, and I take his staff and any other items he has. All but his robes.

Suddenly, a giant 10′ long shadow wolf, a form of an evil ally of mutual necessity (Alosha) shows up and swallows the wizard. The wolf says, “Thank you for your assistance,” and runs off. Before it can top the wall, Urman pulls out his last scroll, and casts fireball. All it does is make it made, and it says, “I’ll remember that.”

I activated the bear belt for the first time, and ran after the wolf, but it was too fast. All I could do is roar in fury and frustration. I had planned to learn about Mydius working with the ogres before dispatching him. I fear he may yet live.

Next week, cleaning up my new wizard tower, and getting all the oil that the others threw around the tower on their way up the stairs. The furniture should look well polished.

What items, notes, and spell books will I find?

SESSION 187 – JANUARY 24,2018

SESSION 187 – JANUARY 24,2018

After Jardin smashes the mirror, Auriel, the green dragon tells us to pile up Serithaz, Kalgun, and tell him where Prix is.

Bavmorda rushes into the mist in an attempt to get around the dragon, and is overcome with burning eyes, nose, and lungs.

Nash tries to talk with Auriel. The dragon tells us that the admiral in charge of the airship, Sarhedan(?), suspected that Jardin was not truly loyal to the Dragon Emperor, and this just proves it. We will deal with him. There is no need for you to risk your life.

During the talking the Roc attacks the dragon, the flap of its wings disperses the mist, but drives it towards us. Lambertus, and Oskar are both overcome.

The dragon breathes a stinking green vapourous cloud at the Roc, who is overcome as its face melts and it caughs up internal organs and dies.

Rallion sees one chance, and drops his magic weapons, items, and pack. He rushes to the chest with the shard, next to the incapacitated Oskar, and drags it away from the party while cutting the rope that binds it shut. Rallion manages to get it open and rush the dragon before it can do anything, and misses. The dragon tries to breath on Rallion and nothing happens. While Rallion rushed the dragon, Kauri saw the daemons bound to the armor get ripped to pieces.

Nash casts bless, and Kauri takes the magic items and armor off Bavmorda so when she recovers, she can aid Rallion.

Oskar recovers first and rushes in with his spear to aid Rallion.

The dragon tries its claws and massive jaws against Rallion, and only manages to scratch him with its claws. Rallion manages to touch its wing with the shard, and it causes great pain and he pulls the wing in close to his body. Oskar gets in a hit.

Nash uses speak with animals to ask the hawk to round up some help from among the local animals. The hawk leaves.

Kauri removes the magic items and magic armor from Lambertus, so he too can join in the fight when recovered.

Rallion is again only hit by the claws of the dragon.

Rallion misses, Bavmorda gets in a backstab with massive damage, and Oskar delivers the killing blow to the surprised dragon.

The dragon then melts and implodes into a pool of acidic residue. Any items or wealth Auriel carried are gone.

Soon after recovering from the battle, Oskar makes tea and we gather around the fire.

We are approached by a wide-eyed half elf, Laris, a sneaky type magic user, who witnessed our battle with the dragon.

We allow him into camp. We used the liar box to verify he isn’t working for our enemies. Laris is from Vargen and left when the tidal wave hit. He is hoping to make it to the coast and catch a ship to better prospects.

We move camp about an hour West, near the edge of the foothills and jungle to be away from the stench of the decaying dragon and dead roc. As well as, away from anything that might investigate the site of the fight.

Laris joins Rallion in the first watch. Rallion tells him of the clock and uses the liar box to prove that what he tells Laris is true. Laris is amazed at these tales of space dwarves from beyond the sky who will arrive when the countdown in your eye reaches zero.

Laris remains with us as we are awaked by cries from Oskar. A giant bee is approaching us. Rallion fires two arrows into it, Bavmorda one, and Kauri finishes it with 3 bolts of pure energy.

Laris attempts to recover the poison sack from the bee, but botches the attempt. He hears the sound of more bee wings in the distance to the NW. The party debates investigating, but decides it is a distraction that will only waste resources, and perhaps get us killed.

Rallion leads the party along a stream. We hear drums for a bit, but they stop. We continue along the stream towards the village. It must be the village we saw between the mountain and the coastal village. We come upon a man at the edge of the village at the stream fishing with a net.

He asks us if we are workshipers of the Matriarchs like those of the village of Montoa. Bavmorda says we just came from the sanctuary, as Rallion clarifies that his friend is a fool, only trying to mimic what Reyne the fisheman/guard just said.

Laris steps in and charms Reyne, making a new friend. Reyne fills us in on the situation.

This is the village of Hizzou, with Chief Aldith, who are hosting two other villages, Montoa, and Shemm. Shemm is the village by the coast with the ship. Montoa calls its inhabitants Daughters of the Matriarchs and are seeking an alliance to fight the Dark King. The people of Shem brought with them the captain of the ship, who is deathly ill, both Shemm and Mantou allege by poison. He tells us not to trust the shaman.

Laris has Reyne return to fishing as he insists we will see ourself to the chief.

Rallion leads the way begging the rest to follow his lead. Rallion sees a way to fulfill his charge from the druids of the Verdant Fellowship, who sent him for answers about the Dark King.

The guards of the chief announce our presence to the chief and we are invited in. We meet the chief, and get the particulars of what each village is about, each dlegation, etc. Rallion insists that all meet at once to hear the message at the same time. The chief is concerned that we not cause offense or make things worse, regarding the poisoning, or tip the balance that might lead to war.

The chief, Aldith, relents and sends for the representatives of the two villages. While we wait for their arrival he fills us in on the scenario.

Ansure the village shaman of Hizzou introduces himself, adn offers us food, as the hungry Laris stares at the food on the sidelines.

Chief Aldith tells us that Shemm is ruled by a council of elders, and has no chieftan. The council selected the members of their delegation, including an Elder, Emeric. Captain Nigel of The Bronze Wizard was head of the delegation until he fell ill. Emeric thinks this whole thing is a ploy to get Shemm under the sway of Mantoa.

Montoa is represented by Druette the lieutenant to the Chief Warrior, Imagentia, who has the unsavory reputation of being very bloodthirsty. Her mother, the prior chief, tried to unite the tribes ten or twenty years ago. Druetta is followed by three who position themselves around Druetta.

Rallion prepares to speak….

Thoughts on the prophecy from the Stonespear shaman:

Thoughts on the prophecy from the Stonespear shaman:

“What was lost and must be unfound lies in the halls of those who came before you! She searches in honour of her liege, and will bring forth the storm of ruin.”

I see two possible options for the prophecy. I lean strongly towards the first, all about the ogres, and Alosha is a side quest of sorts.

Once we get the Mydius situation resolved, this will be our next focus, either back to Alosha or the Ogres.

1.) Lost and Unfound item is whatever the ogres are seeking?

She is the ogre lieutenant, servant of the chief ogre.

2.) Lost and unfound item is whatever Alosha is seeking?

She would be Alosha, but we are not aware of her having a liege.

SESSION 33 – January 21, 2018

SESSION 33 – January 21, 2018

At our last session, we went up against the bugbear allies of the regional wizard, Mydius. We took out the first camp of bugbears, with minimal losses.

We began this session with a celebration at the Stonespear’s Hall in the town of Crossing, a man with a male and female attendant/guard approach, and all the warriors look concerned. The man is an obvious wizard. Otiben tosses his trident, but enchantments prevent it from causing harm.

Mydius asks if that is the way the Stonespear chief treats his guests. Urman spoke up and mentioned that the bugbears we fought claimed that he invited them here. Mydius dropped his pretensions of innocence, and the fight was on.

First to fall was the male guard, who broke like pottery and fell into dust. Then the same happened with Mydius, and lastly with the woman. (The man and woman had changed a bit into beastmen type creatures.) After the fight Urman examined the remains and determined that it had been made of some sort of magic infused clay.

It was decided to strike the other, main bugbear camp before they could get ready for us. Otiben attempted to scout ahead, but he was heard in a fight with a bugbear scout who shouted a warning. We heard a horn in the distance.

We moved towards the sound and found only tracks that lead to the base of trees with platforms in them.

After a bit of backtracking and change of direction, we walked towards the camp. We were not surprised and evaded the stink bombs they threw at us. We quickly engaged having success in the battle of blades. Urman lit up the night sky by casting fireball on one of the large platform with archers. The bugbear’s morale held, and they continued the fight.

Frike was laid low by an arrow, his horse ran off, and Thogi stabilized him. The chief of the Stonespears was affected by the shaman’s fear spell, and sat atop his horse, paralyzed with fear til the battle’s end.

Puk and his riding dog, Hades, and Rip attacked and felled a bugbear on the left flank of Urman. They did the same to another.

The Stonespear warriors, Zho Ni, and the dwarf held the flank on Urman’s right.

Urman used one of his scrolls to once again light up the night with a fireball cast upon the other platform with archers. Many more huts and tents were fired, and many more bugbears fell. Still their morale held. Zho ni lost his target of the shaman, as the shaman went invisible.

Urman was hit stopping him from casting magic missile at a bugbear he felt was too close.

Otiben and Gunner were working with some Stonespear warriors to get past a few bugbears barring their entry into the camp.

Zho Ni and his war horse and dwarf henchman were making progress.

The tide of battle outside the camp was turning in our favor as we were slowly overcoming the bugbears.Urman got off a sleep that helped clear the way for Otiben’s team to move in. The morale of the bugbears finally broke.

Just then, the shaman showed up with Mydius. Somehow he was able to contact Mydius and bring him here. Mydius cast fireball dropping Stonespear and Bugbear alike. Poor Frike was burnt up in his sleep, never knowing his final fate. Thogi died in the blast while standing over Frike. Both Thogi’s and Urman’s horses died. Urman managed to evade the worst of the blast, but was severly hurt, and ran for cover and an opportunity to use the healing salve.

Urman estimated that Mydius was half again as powerful as himself.

Batukahn charged and got a good hit on the wizard. Mydius had some sort of amulet he used to flee. That left the shaman, who was silenced by Zho Ni. Batukahn got a solid hit on the shaman. Otiben did not manage to connect, but Gunner took down the shaman by ripping out his throat.

The bugbears, and the surviving females and children fled into the night.

We found a glass orb on the shaman that had what looked like a forest in it.

Puk managed to round up Frike’s horse.

Urman set to making a travois to haul out what gear and treasure they manage to find.
