Axel is still going to go with the mounted arbalest idea if possible. Can’t see why extra weapons on the skiff would be a bad idea, and allows Owyn, Laurente and Bellisente to contribute without getting too close to anything lethal.
As to the suits. Will keep an eye on them, and remove the battery from at least one when it runs down if possible. We can’t use all three anyway, but we’ll keep two (in case Thorfus requires some facet of the suit his current armour doesn’t grant, and save the extra battery for recharging another suit, the axe or even the skiff.
Finally, I have some poison bolts I liberated from the dark elves in the underground passageways. I remember something about the suits having built-in launchers. Do the bolts fit them?
Keep in mind an explosion inside a tube pushes against the tube as much as it pushes the projectile within it!
I understand that, but how it applies?
Without the inertia of the sea pushing against a ships beam a cannon fixed to the deck will push the ship into a list. If memory serves, the skiff is aloft via anti gravity so a shove by firing cannon(s) might tip it over!
If not cannons, some form of large bolt/rick throwers would be good.
That’s correct, cannons would not be a good idea on the skiff, but bolt throwers or magical weapons would be fine. We also have the portable flame thrower. Had we the time Edan had other ideas.
I was asking about the arbalest idea from last week; crossbow turrets. I’m aware cannons exist, but I figured they would be unwieldy and expensive, not to mention the inertia problems you just outlined.
Crossbow turrets are infinitely cheaper, easier to use, and moddable with shields and aiming-aids (iron sights). Plus, with the magical bolts we possess, numerous damaging or paralysing poisons or even grapple lines, incredibly flexible.
