Here’s my half-orc fighter, Batukhan. He hails from the steppes where he was a deadliest horseback archer in his tribe. He left home to seek his fortunes in civilized lands, hoping to also gather the technological wisdom of east to bring home to his people. Unfortunately, he lost his horse and a good bit of money shortly after arriving in more ‘civilized’ lands.

  1. Looks great. If you have any ideas for tribe names or anything else you want to add, that’s fine. The tribes aren’t something I’ve covered too much yet, and they’re almost intentionally able to become anything, and it was my intention to let a couple of tribes grow organically.

The campaign will be starting in the Vale, so it makes sense you would have lost your horse and money since that’s literally on the other side of the continent. It also makes sense that you are gathering technological wisdom, since The Vale was closely allied with the dwarves, and a large number reside there, it is a logical location. Going to the dwarves themselves would require buying passage on a ship, which may simply be too expensive/disagreeable for you.

As to Odagard and Vademor, both countries have skirmished with the tribes on occasion, and Vademor especially looks down on orcs, so whilst you may have passed through them, it was likely a tough experience.

Rahm Benisaeko If you want to roll, you can, but I’m not adverse to just choosing something that makes sense for your character.

  2. Antony Nicklin, I think bowyer/fletcher makes sense for my character if he has fought as an archer (I assume each warrior would be responsible for their own weapons among the tribes). Does that sound alright?

Also I have one language and two weapon proficiency slots unassigned right now. What language would make sense for a half-orc from the steppes? Dwarven? Can I keep the proficiency slots open for later?

  3. Bowyer/Fletcher makes sense yes, especially with the horse archer background you chose. Tribes weapons are a mix of own-responsibility and heirlooms, with very occasional stolen/bought stuff coming in.

I’m actually unsure what would makes sense for language slots. For the most part, the tribes deal with humans and halflings, with the odd elf here and there. Dwarves are normally massively removed. I’ll think on this.

Feel free to keep slots open though, I’d just enforce a training time in order to learn something though.
