A Letter from Axel to his Mother. Sent on his return to Midmark

A Letter from Axel to his Mother. Sent on his return to Midmark

Dear Mother,

I do hope you and Father are doing well, and of course, please send my love to Grandfather too.

I understand that receiving this letter may cause some confusion. No doubt by now, Drexam will have returned home with Grandfather’s axe and a tale of my passing. However, I can quite happily tell you that my death is still some ways off. I was merely seperated from my companions and forced to find an alternate route home. It took some weeks, but I managed to find my way back to Midmark and my allies.

The full story will have to wait until I return to Xenilum’Khel of course, it is quite the tale, and one better told over a mug of ale.

Unfortunately, this letter does come on darker tidings. There is some great danger that threatens all of Curabel in the coming months and one that we may not be able to avert. I hope to return home before time is up, but rest assured that I am one of those fighting against it. Have faith that we can save this world.

I understand that Drexam at least has been working alongside the Silver Throne. Weeks ago, this would’ve alarmed me, but now I believe they may have some hand in the final solution, for good or for ill. I beg you however, do not trust them. Marchmain is not what he seems, and the Silver Throne is known to have some shady dealings. I pray Father heeds my warnings, but there is a reason why I write to you.

I know I was never the easiest son to raise, but my travels have taught me a lot, about both myself and the world. You may have heard of some of my exploits, and despite the attempts of many to besmirch our names, myself and my companions are a force for good. We have powerful allies, and have ended many an evil in these islands.

My exploits alone could mean lasting alliances between the Rhom’khul and Ironhand clans in Xeni’lum Khel, as well as the Midmark Navy and Order of the Celestial Dragon to name a few. It is not what was expected of me, but I know it is far more than I could’ve accomplished in the shadow of my Father and Brothers.

If I am unable to return home, or avert the coming danger, know that I love you all.

Your faithful son,

Axel Rhom’khul of Clan Rhom’khul

Since it seems like only Antony and I could access the original posts with all their replies, I have copied those into a Word document (see link below). I have also deleted the other posts since they only told (less than) half the story.

The Party’s Current Plan (End of Session 124

The Party’s Current Plan (End of Session 124

1. Canis digs out a sub-basement on Ronan’s apartment; the party frees the sub from the warehouse and stores it in this new hideout.

2. The party hires and/or purchases a ship to take them south to Hugue’s island; Perette and Em are taken aboard (either invisible or disguised). They hideout on that island if it is safe.

3. The party takes the ship to Kaligan/Vargen in hopes of tracking down Kottar/Araqiel and the Dead (?) Dragon Emperor’s Consort.

4. …

5. Profit.

Automata Run Amok: Alpha Copy

Attached is a first draft of my little adventure booklet based on this campaign’s introductory adventure. It has only been proofed a few times and the artwork/maps either don’t exist or have not been loaded. However, feel free to download a copy and let me know if you see anything wrong. Right now, besides further corrections, I’m thinking of adding some more unique treasure and then maybe a section discussing those items.

In no particular order:

In no particular order:

– Edan has grown increasingly wary of Kalgunn – everyone he’s met that has encountered such items has warned him not to trust it. To make matters worse, he’s afraid if someone else holds on to the sword Kalgunn may be strong enough to take them over. What the Night Court have said about Kalgunn just reinforces his worry. He hates being manipulated is seriously considering destroying it or forcing Kalgunn out of the sword into the helmet and letting the Night Court have “fun” with him until he is more compliant. (Aunt Fel would approve)

– Seeing Imperial involvement in Curabel is worrying for Edan. Their return will not be good for the islands.

– The potential threat of Marchmain and the Dark King are equally worrying. As much as he admires Dwarven tech – seeing how ancients viewed “others” and used their wondrous technology to terrible ends makes him believe that their existence is may be just as bad if not worse than the return of Imperial forces.

– A haunted mansion hardly interests him.

– Edan doubts the Sword of Dagon should be used at all – it’s too dangerous. He wishes it didn’t work.

During the training week:

Edan will shop some fine clothes and commission a completely new stylish-ish red hat. Plus another red leather hat for travelling.

Kalgunn will be stowed in a handled steel box Edan has had specifically made for it (interior moulded to it’s shape) and hidden in a wall of our club house until I’m ready to retrieve him. Think of a steel briefcase (or coffin?) – for a sword. 😉

Complete studying the devilfish anatomy drawings and notes

Study the submersible plans – particularly the engine.

Transcribe the spell book spells to his own.

Speak with Runnelbrooke about the safest way to confront Kalgunn, without risking that he handle the sword (I explain to him my fear after seeing what happened with the helm) I believe we had already established something with using a dynamo. I now know for sure he doesn’t want to be destroyed.

See if Runnelbrook can teach him wizard lock or similar spell

See if he can get the undying control cubes the Grey Cloaks recovered from the bodies.

Experiment with manipulating a control cube without a pedestal – Kalgunm showed Edan how, but Edan is convince there must be a way to “read” them as well. Otherwise, how could Prix have done what she did?
